This workshop is for you if you are a/an:
• Individual already working in an area requiring understanding, skills, and knowledge related to how present and past experiences can negatively impact a person's overall quality and enjoyment of life
• Individual who is interested in working with and helping other individuals interested in working with you to effectively address areas of difficulty in their lives.
• Experienced counselling/mental health professional who would like to expand your skills for resolving trauma
• Newly qualified counselling/mental health professional who would like to acquire the skills to handle trauma effectively
In this workshop we will:
- cover the theory of trauma and Traumatic Incident Reduction• teach effective techniques that can be readily and effectively used upon an individual’s completion of the workshop. These include:o Brief assessment interview and Case planningo Effective ways to handle client’s immediate concerns, upsets, or worrieso Unblocking – a technique that effectively addresses areas in which a client is/or has had difficulty such as with situations, things, places, or peopleo Basic TIR – effectively addresses known traumatic incidentso Thematic TIR – effectively reduces or eliminates unwanted experiences that permeate a client’s life experiences such as “anxiety”, “depression”, or “anger”o Grounding and Remediation Techniques• supervise learned techniques that you will use in real sessions, both as a facilitator
(counsellor) and as a viewer (client)
- demonstrate how these same techniques equip practitioners with a means to avoid compassion fatigue and ensure the safe and effective use of self.
